Overview
The Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) in Sault Ste. Marie focuses on enhancing the integration of newcomers by fostering collaboration among local organizations, government, and businesses. It aims to provide support services, raise community awareness about immigration and address barriers faced by immigrants. Through workshops, cultural events, and various resources, the LIP seeks to create a welcoming environment that benefits both newcomers and the broader community.
LIP Objectives:
- Identify and eliminate gaps in programs and services for new arrivals and immigrants.
- Consolidate community resources and coordinate the delivery of services and programs for newcomers.
- Help address current and pending labour shortages through strategic recruitment and workforce development and by preparing employers to hire newcomers.
- Develop and construct a working community strategy and action plan.
- Strengthen local and regional awareness and capacity to integrate immigrants and newcomers.
- Increase the community’s readiness for newcomers by providing opportunities for locals and newcomers to learn about and share with each other.
Funding Request Criteria for Community Events
Are you planning an event that supports and celebrates our immigrant community? The Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) is here to help! Please review the criteria below to ensure your event aligns with our funding goals and to guide your application process.
Note: To apply for funding, your organization must be a legal entity.
Important Information
- Submit Early: Applications are to be submitted a minimum of 90 days in advance of the event date.
- Limited Funding: Funding amount is limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
- One Event per Organization: LIP may not fund more than one event per community organization within a fiscal year.
Eligibility Requirements
- Event Purpose and Relevance
- Alignment: Your event should support LIP’s goals such as immigrant integration, cultural diversity, or addressing community needs.
- Community Need: Demonstrate how your event addresses a specific need within the immigrant community.
- Event Planning
- Objectives and Plan: Provide clear objectives and a detailed agenda. Include how the event will be managed.
- Target Audience: Define who will benefit from the event and your strategies for outreach and promotion.
- Budget and Financial Management
- Detailed Budget: Submit a breakdown of all expected expenses and the total amount of funding requested.
- Financial Management: Outline how funds will be used and managed.
- Experience and Capacity
- Organizer Experience: Highlight previous experience in organizing similar events or working with immigrant communities.
- Team Qualifications: Include qualifications of key individuals involved in the event.
- Community Engagement
- Involvement: Show evidence of community input and involvement in planning the event.
- Accessibility: Ensure the event is inclusive and accessible to all community members.
- Impact and Sustainability
- Expected Impact: Describe how your event will benefit the community and contribute to LIP’s objectives.
- Long-Term Benefits: Explain any anticipated long-term outcomes or benefits.
- Evaluation and Reporting
- Evaluation: Provide a plan for measuring the success of your event and collecting feedback from participants.
- Reporting: Agree to submit a post-event report detailing the event’s outcomes and financials.
- Compliance and Documentation
- Regulations: Ensure your event complies with local regulations and LIP requirements.
- Documentation: Include any necessary permits or documents required for the event.
- Risk Management
- Risk Plan: Identify potential risks and describe how you will address them.
