Black History Month

February 1, 2024 All day

Today marks the first day of Black History Month in Canada! Black History Month is a special opportunity for us to acknowledge the achievements, contributions, and resilience of Black people throughout Canadian history. The government of Canada declared this year’s theme as: “Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; A Future to Build”. While it is important for us to educate ourselves and acknowledge the significance of Black History, it is of equal necessity for us to emphasize Black Futures. May our efforts to support, listen, and embrace one another span beyond this month so that we may always strive for a better, brighter, future.
