National Indigenous Peoples Day

June 21 All day

Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day!

National Indigenous Peoples Day takes place on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. The summer solstice holds deep spiritual and cultural significance for many Indigenous Peoples, marking a time of renewal, connection, and celebration.

Today, we celebrate the rich histories, traditions, and cultures of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples here in Bawating and across Turtle Island. Today, and beyond, let us continue to amplify and learn from Indigenous voices, experiences, and stories, as well as take the time to explore Indigenous art, literature, and music. This day serves as an important reminder of our collective responsibility to foster reconciliation, understanding, and respect. By acknowledging the past, we can create a more inclusive and equitable future.
