Lunar New Year

February 10, 2024 All day

SSMLIP would like to wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous Lunar New Year! Lunar New Year is celebrated across many East Asian countries, and usually falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice. It is based on a lunisolar calendar, which uses astronomical observations of the Sun’s position in the sky and the Moon’s phases. This ancient calendar dates all the way back to 14th century BCE!

Every Lunar New Year ushers in one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. This year will be the Year of the Dragon!
